Instead of viewing change and unexpected outcomes as problems we can begin to view them as challenges. We can start to feel invigorated and energized by the chance to rise to the occasion. Being determined means we accept and perceive these challenges as a part of the journey toward the larger accomplishment we are committed to.
Finding the areas of commitment in your life can simplify what you focus on and establish a clearer direction and purpose. Though, at the same time, there may be a cost for the utter dedication it takes to be committed. It takes courage to face the uncertainty, fear, and discomfort of branching out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary. Making a definite decision to be committed means you must take action. This means potential excuses must be accounted for ahead of time, and there can be no more waiting for the perfect moment.
You must continue to take action despite resistance. With this in mind, it will be important to hold your course. Develop a plan and examine how determined you really are. Do your goals provide you fulfillment and purpose? Are you willing to make sacrifice?
The path to greatness has so many obstacles which makes you struggle so much just to make a small impact. Socialize on your own schedule, not someone elses. Each and every one of these incidents will just stall you and opportunities could be missed, as someone else will snatch that opportunity away from you. Distractions are like weeds in a well-cultivated vegetable farm that host diseases and hinder the uptake of nutrients by your crops.
Your mind will have fewer choices to make it wander around and come up with excuses for not taking a fight or going to train. Being committed means to make a solid, well thought out plan that displays the best path to achieve your goals….
Instead of running 5 miles, run 6 miles. Instead of watching TV, watch other masterful boxers display their craft. You have to make your entire life revolve around your desire. Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Bernard Hopkins and many other greats obeyed the laws of good health and self-discipline. All these young people have worked so hard over the last six months to learn their lines, perfect their characterisation, master their dances and follow their stage queues. For some, the stage is their natural home and they truly flourish as they have their moments of glory in front of an audience.
For others, they have to overcome shyness and fears to gain the confidence to perform in public and this takes determination and a commitment to keep working hard, even when it is really tricky.
Moreover, many of the students are performing in English which is not their first language and so have had to work exceptionally hard on mastering the correct pronunciation and intonation- not easy when you add in humour and the acoustics of a huge auditorium. All of these young people have committed to attending a Drama ECA throughout the year, committed to attending weekend rehearsals and committed to trying their very best, as individuals and to support their drama team.
This high level of commitment and determination to do their best has definitely had a positive impact, and as a result these young people were all stage stars and produced an excellent show.
