Who owns minskys pizza

It caught the regional manager's attention, who told him, "The only issue I have with you is you're making more than I am. We've got to work on that. Upset over the proposed salary structure, Johnson opened a competing pizza joint in Omaha: Godfather's Pizza. At the time, Johnson was single, he owned a car and a TV, and he had nothing to lose, he said.

He didn't even own a cooking pan, so he used his friend's parents' kitchen over a weekend and concocted the perfect sauce. The pizza dough recipe came from a serendipitous meeting with a former Omaha bagel shop owner, and the recipe is still used today at Minsky's.

Word of mouth drove the success of Godfather's Pizza, and it didn't hurt that it was next door to a bar called Wild Willy's and near a golf course, large apartment complex and high school.

Johnson later partnered with Wild Willy's owner Willy Theisen to build out the Godfather's Pizza concept, and about two years into the partnership, the single location had grown to 12 to 14 stores. When the two parted ways, Johnson was ready to take the pizza concept "up a notch. The local gourmet pizza chain has garnered multiple honors, including being named to Zagat's "Ultimate 23 Pizzas in America" in and receiving an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator.

The chain uses fresh toppings, and the tomatoes in its sauce are picked and canned the same day. Johnson has personally visited the California tomato farm multiple times, and he's also flown to Italy to ensure Minsky's receives the best percent Italian olive oil. The chain also grates its own Wisconsin mozzarella, a rarity in the industry. To me, it's just about quality and taste, and just using the best ingredients," Johnson said.

Minsky's has grown to 16 Kansas City-area locations, and its 17th location is slated to open later this summer in Overland Park. It's all about quality, cleanliness and service. A lot of people today fail because they get their priorities mixed up.

They worry about other things; they don't worry about the product — they just worry about the decor. And you need everything. The basketball and football term: X and O's. Now, the company includes 14 locations in the Kansas City area and has been recognized by numerous publications for its pizza, including Zagat's "Ultimate 23 Pizzas in America.

Additionally, readers of local entertainment magazine The Pitch recently picked Minsky's as Best Pizza in Kansas City, and the concept was named to Google's "Zeitgeist" list as the most searched restaurant term in Kansas City. Minsky's was founded by Gregg Johnson, who was also co-founder of Godfather's Pizza prior to this concept. When Kansas City experienced a blizzard last week, Johnson was personally making deliveries, or "gettin' the pizza to the people," as he said.

He and his staff delivered orders for two days straight through two storms and more than 12 inches of snow accumulation. Johnson calls the Minsky's name a "two beer idea. To celebrate its 37th birthday, Minsky's is officially launching a new beer on April Minsky's Burlesque Lager. The company is doing a VIP launch party at one of the northland locations on that date. The draft beer will then be available on tap at all locations. The beer should complement the brand's gourmet pizzas that feature fresh, hand-rolled dough and percent Wisconsin mozzarella cheese, as well as sandwiches, salads and pastas.
